Anne & Phil Haisley Phil and Anne Haisley moved to Gainesville from the Midwest in 1989. As longtime booksellers with backgrounds in education and nutrition, they had a dream of combining a bookstore and restaurant. They also wanted to live near their workplace and be in an intellectual environment. They fulfilled that dream with Books Inc./Booklovers’s Café. Their business is located at 505 NW 13th Street, just five blocks north of the University of Florida. It is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Booklover’s Café, which is inside Books Inc., serves vegetarian and vegan food. There are weekly Pan Asian, Green, and Ethiopian specials. Many neighbors utilize the space within Books Inc. for activities such as playing chess, writing poetry, teaching meditation, planning events for Vets for Peace, and learning astrology and feng shui, etc. Local artists are featured monthly in Art Gallery @ Books Inc.
