Amenities

University Park is rich in amenities for young people, working professionals and retirees.

Community
University Park is a true neighborhood in the traditional sense. People know one another and work together to make the neighborhood a better place to live.

Schools
J. J. Finley Elementary School is in the heart of the neighborhood. This neighborhood school is among the best in the county. It provides residents an oportunity to meet their neighbors when they walk their children to and from school. Westwood Middle School and Gainesville High School are within walking distance. Both are excellent schools.

Convenience

University Park is within walking distance of the University of Florida. Residents avoid rush-hour traffic that has made the drive from the suburbs a growing problem without a solution. By walking or riding bicycles to campus, University Park avoid the problem of a chronic shortage of parking spaces.

People
University Park is ideal for retirees and people with an active lifestyle. The region's best cultural presentations, museums and sporting events are with walking distance. Shands at UF, a regional medical center, is just across the campus. University Park is ideal for professionals and families. Safe neighborhoods and an energetic urban atmosphere make this area a vibrant place to live.

History
University Park is an old, stable neighborhood. Residents are largely unaffected by the problems associated with rapid, overdevelopment in the western suburbs of the city and county.

Code and Law Enforcement
University Park receives strong support from the city for enforcement of city codes. Law enforcement and fire protection are only a few minutes away. Several of our board members actively advise the Gainesville Police Department.

Shopping and Dining
Some of Gainesville's best known restaurants, book stores, shops and churches are within walking distance.

An active neighborhood
An active neighborhood association monitors city activities and works with city commissioners to enact neighborhood-friendly policies. The association also informs residents of political issues that may impact them.
